Most pubs are within a 5–10 minute walk of a tram or train stop. Driving is realistic but parking near the busier strips on Friday and Saturday nights can be a hunt.
Booking and Timing
Most Carlton pubs are walk-in territory mid-week. Friday and Saturday from 7pm onwards, the better dining-room pubs need bookings — especially for groups of four or more. Sunday lunches at the heritage pubs sell out from about 1pm; book or arrive early.
The fireplace seats at the heritage pubs go fast on weekends; arrive at 5pm rather than 7pm if you want one.
