Correction (3 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 3 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Free first, always. Five outings had enough on the public record for us to stand behind them, and the two parks are the no-cost options because the pages we read list no fee for them. The five are in and around Truganina: two in Truganina, one in Laverton North and two in Tarneit. Each heading carries the place’s own suburb, so check it before you set the map for the arvo.

The dessert lounge, the motocross ride park and the pub each carry the prices their own sites print. We have not assumed weekend opening hours: where a source lists hours we quote them and say whose listing it is, and where it does not we say nothing.

Alcock Road Reserve — 73 Alcock Road, Truganina VIC 3029

The Wyndham City Council venue page calls Alcock Road Reserve “a large multi-sport facility managed by Wyndham City Council”. It lists a playground, BBQ facilities and a public toilet “for non-exclusive use by the community” and does not state a fee for them. The council page we read does not mention the dog park. Wyndham TV reports a dog off-leash park there with “a large fenced lawn area featuring double gates”, and Find a Dog Park tags the reserve “Fenced”, “Agility Course”, “Water Tap” and “Bins”.

Free first: the council lists the playground, BBQ and public toilet without stating a fee, so this is the no-cost start to the weekend; no hours were in what we read, so check the council page.

Dessert Corner Lounge Truganina — 13A Tallis Cct, Truganina VIC 3029

Dessert Corner’s own site calls it “Melbourne’s first Indian-fusion desserts” and says “all our desserts and hot food are 100% vegetarian”. The site lists 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM from Sunday to Thursday and 12:00 PM to 11:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and the venue says store times may vary with stock. The menu PDF we copied from also lists a CRISPY ARANCINI BLISS at $13.50 and a MOONG DAL KACHORI at $4.50.

On the menu (copied from dessertcorner.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • CLASSIC CASSATA: $6.99
  • CLASSIC STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE: $6.99
  • BISCOFF CHEESECAKE: $7.50
  • CLASSIC ROSE FALOODA: $13.50

Plan it: the CLASSIC CASSATA and the CLASSIC STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE are each $6.99, the lowest of the four listed prices, and the site’s later Friday and Saturday closing makes this an end-of-the-day stop.

City MX Ride Park (Lawrie Emmins Reserve) — 2-88 Sayers Road, Laverton North VIC 3026

This is a motocross ride park in Laverton North, so it only suits people who ride or want to learn. The Wyndham City Council page lists opening hours of “Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays” and says the track is only open when weather permits. The operator’s site lists a “Saturday Ride Day” adult day pass for riders aged 18 years and over. Prices below are from the operator’s site; the council page prints different figures, so confirm the price at the gate.

Listed prices (copied from citymx.online on 3 October 2026):

  • Adult: $50.00
  • Junior: $30.00
  • Coaching: $35
  • Hire Bikes: $50

Plan it: the operator lists hire bikes (50cc, 110cc and 125cc, with junior riding gear included) at $50 for the first 30mins, so confirm the day and the weather with the park before you drive out.

Camelot Park — Cnr Camelot Drive and Crossway Avenue, Tarneit VIC 3029

Camelot Park is in Tarneit, not Truganina. Find a Dog Park describes “a fenced dog park which has a quiet area for those with smaller dogs”, and the City of Wyndham’s Loop page says “the dog off leash area is now open!” Melbourne Playgrounds lists “shaded and unshaded seats, grassy area and a shelter with table and seat”, and adds that the park is “located above a creek with some fencing”. The listings we read give no price and no hours.

Free first: none of the listings we read states a fee for Camelot Park, and Find a Dog Park tags it “Fenced”, “Small Dog Area”, “Agility Course”, “Water Tap” and “Bins”.

Hotel 520 — 520 Sayers Road, Tarneit VIC 3029

Hotel 520 is a pub in Tarneit. Satterley describes it as having “a bistro, sports bar and lounge area”, and its own site says it is “fully licensed and also offers Kids Play to entertain your children 7 days a week”. The site lists lunch hours of 12:00pm to 2:30pm Monday to Sunday and dinner hours of 5:30pm to 8:00pm Sunday to Wednesday and 5:30pm to 8:30pm Thursday to Saturday. It also shows a “LIVE entertainment” poster for the main bar with dates through October; we transcribed the poster image and cannot tie every act to its date, so check the venue’s page for the lineup.

On the menu (copied from hotel520.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • CHICKEN PARMIGIANA: $30
  • 520 BURGER: $28
  • PORTERHOUSE 300G / GF /: $45
  • LAMB SHANK / GF /: $35

Rain backup: Satterley’s listing describes a bistro, sports bar and lounge area, which makes Hotel 520 the fallback here if the weather turns, and the kids’ menu for children up to 12 years of age lists a CHICKEN SCHNITZEL & CHIPS at $14.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 3 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, council pages, wyndhamtv.com.au, findadogpark.com.au, the places’ own websites, a delivery-platform listing, melbourneplaygrounds.com.au and satterley.com.au. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 3 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go.
